Payroll Users: The IRS requires a new format for the 941 (Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return) form beginning with the first quarter of 2005 (ending March 31 – the form must be reported by May 2). Changes to MAS 90 and MAS 200 payroll to accommodate the new format will be available as a downloadable program change on BOSS beginning March 28, 2005. The BOSS program will support versions 3.71, 3.72, 4.0, and 4.05.

The IRS changes were not released in time to allow the addition of the full 941 form to MAS 90 and MAS 200 in time for Q1 filings, so the initial BOSS change is truly a “worksheet” (not the actual 941 form) that will allow users to file 941s either via telephone or manually.
