Tips and Tricks

How to produce an email distribution list with Outlook and SalesLogix
Using SalesLogix (v5.2 and later), there is actually a very easy way to create an email "distribution list" of sorts with Outlook. Using either a dynamic or ad hoc group of Contacts, go into the list view and highlight all the names, then go to Write > Email... on the SalesLogix menu bar. All contacts that have email addresses will be added to the BCC line of an Outlook email and your name will be added on the To line. A practical application for this is simply and quickly generating an email with all the subscribers in the BCC line for an email newsletter.

How to record SalesLogix history for multiple contacts or accounts
The Mail Merge engine of SalesLogix (v6.0 and later) can be used not only for generating personalized letters, emails, and faxes, but it can be "tricked" into quickly and easily recording history records for many contacts all at once. Go to Write > Mail Merge… on the SalesLogix menu bar and set the following Mail Merge properties:

Template: Public Templates > Letter > Blank
Output: File
History Options: Fill in Result, Regarding, Category, and Notes as desired.

A practical application for this is a history record for your email subscription list that says "Sent Email Newsletter".

A practical use for SalesLogix email templates
The Mail Merge engine of SalesLogix (v6.0 and later) can be a very useful tool for at least one specific task that is often very mundane and routine - emailing your contact information to a prospect or client. Create a simple email template by following these steps:

On the SalesLogix menu, select Write > Templates..., then click the New button.
Template Properties:
   » Template Type: E-mail
   » Name: My Contact Info
   » Family: E-Mail
In the SalesLogix Template/E-mail Editor window, add a Subject that will help your email to be easily recognizable for the recipient, such as, "Contact Info for My Name of My Company".
Add body text that has your name, phone number(s), email address, etc.

This email template can now be quickly accessed from the SalesLogix menu bar by going to Write > Email Using Template > Name of the Template you just created. (If this is your first time to use this template, you’ll have to select it from the "More Templates..." menu option, then click "Yes" when prompted to add the template to the list.

Investment in CRM by small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) is on the rise, but key questions still sit in the minds of decision makers: How do I achieve 360-degree views of my best customers? How do I use that intelligence to create new processes that empower sales personnel and drive ROI?

In this event, SalesLogix and Peppers & Rogers Group will illustrate: how to build actionable, 360-degree customer profiles; how sales managers can use this insight to more precisely forecast revenue, generate accurate propensity-to-buy analyses and collaborate with marketing to craft targeted messaging and drive more qualified leads; and how sales reps can profile and meet prospect needs across the selling cycle to capture higher ROI.
